Age and Gender

This week (April 2009), I turn 40. It's difficult to believe, I know. But, as you know, age doesn't matter. Right...

So, enough BS. You've been reading chapter 9 of Eriksen's Small Places, Large Issues, a chapter all about age and gender (the chapter title kind of gives it away). Remember that age and gender are often regarded as universal criteria for social differentiation.

With this in mind, consider your own life and the society in which you live. If age and gender did not matter, how would your life and society in general be different? What would be better? What would be worse? Address these questions (2-3 paragraphs should be enough, but you may write more). Publish your response on the blog. Comment on the work of your classmates (keep it clean and keep it encouraging!). Have fun.

David (don't forget my birthday)
